Large logistics parks experience frequent daily traffic from trucks, container transport vehicles and other heavy vehicles. Compared with ordinary internal roads, main routes, warehouse entrances and loading areas are exposed to higher loads as well as frequent turning, reversing and edge-running movements, placing greater demands on the stability and durability of road boundaries.

For this project, natural granite kerbstones were used along the logistics park’s main roads, heavy-vehicle entrances, warehouse access roads and selected landscaped boundaries. Rather than simply providing an edge to the roadway, the project focused on creating a stable and clearly defined road boundary through coordinated stone dimensions, installation structure, turning details and drainage design.

Project Focus: Stable Boundaries Along Main Roads

The main roads connect the park entrance with warehouses, loading areas and internal traffic nodes, making them some of the most frequently used routes within the site.

Continuous natural granite kerbstones were installed to separate asphalt vehicle lanes from pedestrian areas and landscaped zones. Material selection focused on granite strength, abrasion resistance, weather resistance and dimensional consistency across production batches, helping maintain clean and continuous road lines after installation.

During material selection, designers and contractors can review our granite kerbstone product range to compare stone options, dimensions and surface finishes before determining the most suitable solution for specific road conditions.

Heavy-Vehicle Entrances Require Special Attention

Logistics park entrances and warehouse access points are areas where trucks frequently turn, slow down, reverse and adjust direction. As a result, road edges in these locations require particularly careful detailing.

The kerbstone layout was planned according to road width, vehicle movement paths and turning positions, reducing unnecessary on-site cutting and irregular small pieces. At curved sections and locations with changing turning radii, kerbstone lengths and joint arrangements were adjusted to follow the road geometry more naturally.

Granite kerbstones primarily provide road edging and pavement restraint; they are not dedicated vehicle-impact barriers. Where collision risks are significant, bollards, guardrails or other protective systems should be incorporated according to the engineering design.

Installation Stability Is as Important as Stone Strength

For roads carrying heavy vehicles, choosing strong granite alone is not enough.

If the foundation, supporting structure or backing is inadequate, kerbstones may gradually tilt, loosen or shift even when the stone itself remains undamaged.

Installation therefore focused on foundation stability, kerb levels, road alignment and consistent joints between adjacent units. At vehicle entrances and concentrated turning areas, edge restraint was coordinated with the actual road structure to create a stable relationship between the kerbstones, foundation and surrounding pavement.

Coordinating Kerbstones with Road Drainage

Logistics parks typically contain large areas of asphalt and other hard paving, making effective stormwater drainage an important part of road design.

Kerbstone levels were coordinated with crossfalls, longitudinal gradients, drainage inlets and linear drainage systems so that surface water could flow in the intended direction and the risk of localised ponding along road edges could be reduced.

During installation, quality control therefore covered not only individual kerbstones but also continuous level changes along the entire road boundary and their relationship with drainage points.

Project Result: A Continuous and Stable Road Boundary

After completion, the natural granite kerbstones created clear and continuous boundaries along the main roads, heavy-vehicle entrances and landscaped areas while maintaining a consistent visual relationship with the asphalt roads, buildings and surrounding landscape.

The project did not rely simply on selecting a “stronger stone.” Instead, granite dimensions, foundation support, turning details, installation stability and drainage were considered as an integrated road-edge system.

For logistics parks, industrial estates and other heavy-duty road projects, designers, contractors and procurement teams can explore our granite kerbstone product range and select suitable stone dimensions and finishes according to vehicle conditions, road design and installation requirements.

The value of high-quality natural granite kerbstones lies not only in the durability of the material itself, but also in how appropriate selection, fabrication and installation can create a long lasting, orderly road boundary that integrates naturally with the wider logistics park environment.
